What are GAMMA’s main features and modules?

Main Features

Real-time monitoring

  • Internal components
  • Databases
  • Interfaces
  • User interactions

COB Monitor

  • Displays the actual statuses of the monitored systems
  • Manages multiple COBs
  • Immediately alerts when a problem occurs
  • Checks for long running times
  • Shows statistics of running jobs
  • Shows detailed information about the jobs
  • Possibility to control and monitor pre- and post-COB activities
  • Stores all COB-related details in database

COB Analyser

  • Intelligent, web-based analyser
  • Displays COB statistics with out-of-the box charts and reports

Prediction support

  • Through correlations, users can simply predict potential threats (e.g. longer running times for a given job, based on growing record numbers)

Alerting system

  • Allows for customizing alert levels
  • Handles alerts generated by GAMMA observers

Incident handling

  • Event-triggered alerting and communication chain
  • Knowledge base

Service concept

  • Users can easily create services from service components and monitor them
  • Users can also attribute business impact to any service

Remote management

  • Managing T24 components remotely
  • Initiating components remotely
  • Setting parameters of T24 components, TAFC, and the operating system

Dashboard framework

  • Built-in portlets to support management, operators, and system administrators
  • Customizable portals (users can easily create their own portal)
  • Special management reports (daily reports, status reports)

Security in focus

  • Out of the application, server users are not allowed to change the application parameters
  • User-level rights management (roles, role groups)
  • All sensitive data is encrypted by GAMMA and is only accessible to the users with proper authorization level

Integration of other monitoring systems

  • Objects are stored in MS SQL database
  • Windows Events compatible
  • SNMP compatible

GAMMA Logical Architecture

Dashboard and Reporting Module

This module provides a web-based graphical view of the actual statuses of the monitored systems and environments, it displays detailed warnings and error messages (complete with business impact) instantaneously and delivers different statistics and historical data to analyse bottlenecks and potential threats. Users can tailor the dashboard view to their individual needs and preferences.

Monitoring and Alerting Module

The Monitoring and Alerting Module is responsible for the 24-hr real-time monitoring the systems and environments on operational component-level and service-level, as well as for sending alerts to the assigned persons. This module contains the COB Monitor, COB Analyser, and Online Monitor.

COB Monitor is a web-based component to monitor COB processes in real time. It displays the actual progress, status (normal, warning, and major/error), and running time of jobs, the total number of active and remaining jobs, and the predicted time of T24 opening. If a warning or error appears, an alert request is sent to the Alerting component. Using COB Monitor, all the monitored COBs can be supervised in one summary view.

COB Analyser is a web-based tool to analyse and evaluate COB related information. This powerful component allows users to be successfully proactive, and to find trends, threats, and correlations. The analyser supports the IT department with many out-of-the box statistics and diagrams drawing on ABRIS’ T24 experience and knowledge.

Online Monitor allows users to monitor the bank’s online IT operations in real time. The goal is to detect discrepancies in the monitored components without delay. The GAMMA message monitor allows users to analyse any issue in detail. If a warning or error appears, an alert request is sent to the Alerting component.

The Alerting component is responsible for receiving and promptly evaluating alert requests, before sending out alerts to pre-defined persons.

Using the Monitoring and Alerting Module, IT Operations can monitor T24 components (phantoms, agents), TAFC, Operating System components (processes, jobs), and Interfaces.

Management and Automation Module

Its main task is to provide a user interface so that IT administrators can make changes in configuration. The module includes the Enterprise Level Scheduler and the Administration Dashboard.

The Administrator Dashboard allows operators to run T24 and TAFC/TAFJ-level commands directly from GAMMA without accessing T24. The aim is to give operators access only to a GAMMA view and not to Temenos Core Banking and application servers.

The Enterprise Level Scheduler supports IT operators in performing their daily routine tasks, checks and follow-ups on such tasks. It allows users to perform specific daily IT operating tasks, COB preparation tasks, COB tasks, and COB follow-up tasks parallel, manually or automatically, and in different environments using GAMMA.
